Opus Kink have announced ‘A Hideous Collective’, a 24-track compilation album created to raise funds for Music Venue Trust and the UK Artist Touring Fund.
Exclusively available on CD and vinyl, the album will be released on 5 September via Hideous Mink Records, in partnership with SO Recordings.
Including a foreword from Music Venue Trust patron Steve Lamacq, the record will feature Big Special, Katy J Pearson, Lambrini Girls, English Teacher, Mary In The Junkyard, Wunderhorse, Honeyglaze, Luvcat, Matt Maltese, Warmduscher, TTSSFU, Hamish Hawk, Antony Szmierek, Friegberg, HotWax, Getdown Services, Gurriers, Nova Twins, cumgirl8, The Oozes, Los Bitchos and the Oracle Sisters. The release will include ‘never-before-heard songs, unreleased live tracks, alternative versions and demos’ from the artists.
Opus Kink started as a band in Brighton, first performing in Sticky Mikes Frog Bar. The venue announced its closure in December 2018, with the band describing the venue as ‘a staple in Brighton and will forever be missed’.
In an interview with Music Venue Trust, Jed Morgans, founder of Hideous Mink Records and saxophonist in Opus Kink, shared:
Person’s Name, Title/Band

This album is dedicated to every space we’ve lost and to those still fighting to survive – so new bands can keep creating the same lasting memories. Music Venue Trust was an obvious choice for us – You have worked tirelessly for so many years, having the backs of venues and being in the grassroots scene’s corner whenever it needs it. Without MVT, the Grassroots music scene would be a very quiet and sad place.”
