Music Venue Trust Thanks All Supporters
After the most challenging year the Grassroots Music Venue sector, and we as a charity, have ever faced, we wanted to try and end the year on a positive note.
Whilst we completely appreciate that the Covid crisis is far from over, we feel it is important to take a moment to acknowledge all the remarkable work that has been done this year to shield our community from the worst possible outcome of this pandemic, and to thank all of the people who made that possible.
Due to the dedication, generosity and hard work of so many people, Music Venue Trust has been able to support 920 Music Venues Alliance members to weather the storm. This work will continue in 2021 as we remain determined to Reopen Every Venue Safely.
The #SaveOurVenues campaign has, to date, raised a grand total of £3,872,512. This money has been essential in giving venues the human and financial support they need to ride out this crisis until such time that the sector can reopen.
For this we have many people to thank:
Musicians, photographers, painters, printmakers, poets, writers, graphic designers, other creatives and everybody else who hosted fundraising events or created merchandise to raise money for #SaveOurVenues. Without their contribution the campaign would never have captured the attention of the public and media. We would particularly like to take a moment to highlight that this has been an amazing year for artists actively supporting Grassroots Music Venues through words, deeds and hard cash. Musicians and songwriters have made personal donations to #SaveOurVenues as well as calling on their communities to support the campaign.
The team at DCMS, Arts Council England, Scottish Government, Creative Scotland, Creative Wales and every Mayor, MP, Councillor or other figure in government who worked alongside us to secure vital funding for venues.
MVT‘s team of fundraisers, consultants, gurus, coordinators, patrons, our board and the core admin team for their tireless work and dedication.
For their donations: Amazon Music, Beggars Group, BPI, Sony, Fred Perry, DHP, Kilimanjaro, Warners, Ticketmaster, SJM, PPL, Jack Daniel’s, Grumpy Old Management, Marshall Amp, HiWatt, Cadburys, Jackpot Peanut Butter, Strings & Things and Fightback Brewing Company.
This year, more than any other, we are reminded of the words of Joe Strummer, who said ‘Without people, you’re nothing’. Our community has responded to this crisis with extraordinary passion and commitment. You are our people, and that means everything to us and to the venues.
